On September 28, 2013 VCDS held it’s annual fundraising dinner in Burnaby, British Columbia. The evening is one way we hope to show our gratitude for the on-going support from our vital Canadian community, and to share recent news, developments and goals for the coming year.
As our outreach program increases, this year, we wanted to introduce our community of supporters to the 60 children that participate in our program.
In keeping with the tradition of our event, we showcase some of Ethiopia’s best in artisanal goods from jewelry to figurines, and handmade scarfs during our fundraising silent auction.
Bringing a taste of Ethiopia, the evening dinner includes classic Abyssinian dishes that highlight the regions wealth of rich spices and flavors.
An evening of celebration would not be complete without music. The talent, wonderful volunteers, brought a convivial mood to an evening.
The Greater Vancouver business community has been vital to offer our community special offers in the form of prizes for our auction, door and raffle prizes which makes for an entertaining and lively event.
This year, we had a heart-warming speech by Lindsay Jangalee, a local Vancouverite who journeyed to Yerah and Woldia to visit our Ethiopian outreach program. Her first-hand experience of VCDS’s programs, meeting with participating guardians and children in May 2013 left a marked impression on her which she shared candidly.
The continued support of our Vancouver-based community has been key to the success of VCDS to date. Hosting our annual event would simply not reach the success and growth it has, without our invaluable community and the numerous volunteers who graciously offer their time and services to VCDS.
We wish to give our heartfelt thanks for your support – we simply could not do what we do without you!
I will like to know the about VCDS. Could you please e-mail me where is located you office in Ethiopian. Because I have a plan to visit Norther part of Ethiopian in a couple of months.
